PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh woman is facing several charges after falsifying family information and where she lived in order to receive $100,000 in fraudulent benefits.
Police said Sabrina Strothers, 23, lied about having three children in her care. The Department of Human Services said that Strothers had been pregnant with triplets in 2008 but had lost them before birth.
Officials found that Strothers reported the birth of Thomas, Tomalyia and Tyreik Wilson on November 20, 2008, in order to receive increased benefits. The Social Security numbers were pulled and belonged to three other people.
Strothers is charged with theft, forgery and false statements. Her hearing is set for Dec. 22.
Detectives said that while Strothers was working out of state, she lied about her residence to receive benefits from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
