Polar Vortex Challenge: free lunch raises money for homeless

SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS — They called it the Polar Vortex Challenge:
A Massachusetts restaurant offered up a free lunch to anyone who could eat their meal outside.

Patrons of the "Hot Table at Tower Square Restaurant" could take on the challenge to get that free meal on Monday.
With a winter weather advisory in effect and temperatures at the time of the challenge not even in the teens, the struggle was real but the outdoor tables were still mostly full.
The restaurant has been holding a Polar Vortex Challenge for the last three years. If the lure of a free lunch wasn't enough to get people to eat outside, all the money they would otherwise have made on the sales of food the restaurant instead donated to the local rescue mission.
