PITTSBURGH,None — Police said three men crashed a Norfolk Southern Railroad yard in Pittsburgh's South Side this month. As they were loading stolen steel rails and aluminum bridge gates onto a dump truck, Pittsburgh police happened to roll by, police said.
Police arrested Nicholas Sabat, 51, Jason Sabat, 34, and Jack Loder, 34. Police said they've been charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
"They had them up against the police car and were searching them," said Howard Lamb who was working in his nearby auto repair shop on West Carson Street at the time.
The suspects told detectives that the scrap was just lying in the railroad yard, and they were "scrapping," but police didn't buy that, police said.
