BEAVER FALLS, Pa.,None — An 8-month-old baby is in critical condition at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh after authorities said her father dropped her twice.
The incident happened Thursday inside a home at Morado Dwellings in Beaver Falls.
Sources close to the investigation told Channel 11 News that the girl's mother was at work and left her 22-year-old boyfriend in charge.
The boyfriend, whose name hasn't been released, dropped the child twice then panicked, waiting 15 minutes to call 911, the sources said.
Sources said the father first called his own father and others prior to calling 911.
"A few minutes later, he came running again and said, ‘Can I use your phone. ... So, I said, sure, and he took it and he was in and out his house for about five minutes," said neighbor Martha Frank.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, the baby was unresponsive.
The child was flown to Children's Hospital, where she is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.
When police arrived, they also found another child under the age of 2 hiding under some blankets in a bedroom.
So far, no charges have been filed.
