BROWNSVILLE, Pa. — A man died after he was shot at a southwestern Pennsylvania housing project, then driven to a police station in a private vehicle, police said.

The shooting happened when two groups of people got into an altercation shortly before 1 a.m. Tuesday at Snowden Terrace, a low-income housing project run by the county housing authority, according to police.

A person in one of the groups involved began shooting into the air, police said. That’s when the other group, consisting of two men and two women, began to flee. The gun was then fired in their direction, striking the victim.

The victim was taken to the Brownsville Police Department in a private vehicle. He was then taken to Uniontown Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
