EAST MCKEESPORT, Pa. — Authorities were searching Tuesday night for a man accused of stabbing his girlfriend in East McKeesport.

Police identified the woman’s boyfriend as Anthony Morris. Officials said they believe he is driving a blue 2002 Buick Century with the Pennsylvania license plate JZA0370.

Authorities said the woman told police that Morris stabbed her inside her home on Florence Avenue. Police said after she was stabbed in the thigh, she grabbed the butcher knife from Morris and ran to the police station across the street from her home.

"She started pounding on the windows, screaming for help. She had the knife with her. She was bleeding from the leg when she got here," East McKeesport Police Chief Russell Stroschein said.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to be OK, officials said.

Stroschein said officers went to the home, where the woman had left her two young children.

"When the officers got there, they got (the children) out of the house. We brought them down here to the police station and then the officers went in to try to find the boyfriend. He had fled prior to them getting there," Stroschein said.

As of 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Morris was not in police custody.
