WESTMORELAND COUNTY, Pa. — A popular business in Derry Township was destroyed by fire late Sunday night.
Firefighters said when they first arrived at the Cheese House on Route 22 around 11 p.m. flames were shooting from the building.
Channel 11’s Dave Bondy reported that two firefighters suffered minor injuries after falling on ice while battling the blaze.
“The business has been here probably since 1967 under different ownership; it has been here a long time. Unfortunatley there is nothing left,” Blairsville firefighter Ab Dettorre said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigations, but firefighters said early indications suggest the fire was sparked by an electrical problem.
The fire rekindled Monday morning. But firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
"They had various chesses and meats, a wine tasting area for people to come in. It was a nice little quant business she had going," Zedick said.
