PORTLAND, OREGON — A thief in Portland stole a trailer full of pillows that were meant for hugs.
Shanya Luther has made cuddling her business: "We're born with a biological need to be touched in healthy and nurturing ways. And that need never goes away."
Snuggle Headquarters is in its infancy and while it may sound silly, Luther has big plans for it.
"A whole snuggle mobile, a whole truck that will have windows and can have snuggling going on inside. So people can actually see it and understand what it is," says Luther.
Now she's getting the cold shoulder after a thief stole her trailer. She says "we can't put on events without the stuff that was in trailer. It's really of no value to anyone else."
It was parked right behind the colorful company car. She walked out Tuesday night and instantly realized something was wrong. Inside the trailer were countless yoga mats and pillows, all the supplies she needs to put on events throughout the Portland area, where people learn about the benefits of platonic snuggling.
She estimates that Snuggle Headquarters is out about five grand.
Snuggle Headquarters is hoping the trailer will be found, but is accepting donations on their website, just in case.
