PITTSBURGH — Despite struggling over the past year, a local pizza shop has kept its promise to a local nonprofit that helps children in Honduras.

“Dream Big Honduras” funds a school in a poverty-stricken area of the country. Last year when the pandemic hit, the group announced it was not going to be able to keep the program running.

“They’re just great people and really, it’s people that I really look up to, and they just have a servant’s heart. And I think that just makes me Proud to be from Pittsburgh,” said owner Nick Bogacz.

Caliente Pizza stepped up and donated $20,000.

He said the community has supported his pizza shop during the pandemic and he felt the need to continue supporting groups trying to make a difference.
