PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh Technical Institute student is making an impact for military families overseas with her extreme couponing skills.
Laura Allison, a business management major, cuts $3,000-$4,000 in coupon savings a day for military families at a U.S. Air Force base and an Army base in Germany.

“It's something I can take with me where ever I go. I bring it with me and I do it between classes, during my breaks at work or just sitting in my dorm,” Allison said.
Mark Bellemare, PTI community service coordinator, is the one that got Allison started in the couponing business with BCD Travel’s Overseas Coupon Program.
“We fully believe in corporate responsibility here at PTI, and getting students involved,” Bellemare said.
According to BCD Travel’s Patty Caupinis, the program has accumulated over $340,000 in the last two-and-a-half years for military families in Germany.
Allison said that helping these military families overseas is personal for her.
“My grandfather served in two wars and he died two years before I was born. I never got to know him, and I feel this carries on his legacy,” Allison said.
