ROSTRAVER, Pa.,None — The owner of the Rostraver Ice Garden hopes to rebuild the roof of the arena that collapsed under heavy snow on Valentine's Day.
James Murphy said he plans to seek bids from area contractors for the 50-year-old facility on Route 51.
About 100 people were inside the building when a 100- by 200-foot section of the roof and three wooden trusses collapsed Feb. 14. No one was injured.
Murphy doesn't yet know whether the ice rink can be salvaged or if it has to be completely rebuilt.
Meanwhile, parents, hockey coaches and players are working on a fundraiser to help the owner of the Ice Garden rebuild.
The cost to rebuild could be more than $1 million.
A "Cash Bash" will be held March 12 to help raise money for repairs. Donations are also being accepted to help rebuild.
