The road was shut down between Whited Street and Maytide Street.

RAW: Tractor trailer accident on Route 51 caught on surveillance camera

Claude McFadden told Channel 11 he had been driving his tractor-trailer on Route 51 to East Liverpool, Ohio, when he said a silver car crossed the center line.

“I was out of control. I couldn't do anything but slide down the road,” McFadden said.

This put McFadden right into the path of a red pick up truck. The driver of the pick up said he accelerated to avoid hitting the tractor-trailer head-on, but the two trucks collided.

The tractor-trailer then crossed both lanes and came to a stop over an embankment.

A women who heard the accident ran outside her apartment to help. She told Channel 11 she pulled the injured woman from the vehicle.

“She's in bad shape. When they try to put her in the paramedics, she was screaming in pain,” the woman said.

Officials said the woman is in critical but stable condition. Neither truck driver was seriously hurt.
