PITTSBURGH — A giant water slide as long as three football fields is all set to host thousands in South Park this weekend.

The 1,000-foot inflatable slide structure will begin at the top of a hill at South Park. According to officials, it will take about one minute to make it all the way down the slide.

“Slide the City” expects to host about 5,000 people, on Saturday and Sunday. Sliders will have the option of going down the slide alone, with friends or in a tube.

Slide manager Chris Conran, who said he knows a lot about water slides, believes Pittsburghers will enjoy the long ride.

“It’s like a Slip and Slide on steroids,” Conran said.

Over 17,000 people have registered for the giant slide. For more information about Slide the City, visit its website.
