HUNTINGDON COUNTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania State Police trooper was fatally shot Friday night in Huntingdon County by a suspect killed Saturday morning during a confrontation with law enforcement officers, authorities said.
The shooting that took the life of Trooper Landon Weaver happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday at a home on Bakers Hollow Road in Juniata Township, which is about 120 miles east of Pittsburgh. State police said Weaver was called to the home for a protection from abuse order violation.
Officials said Weaver, who was 23 years old, was originally from East Freedom in Blair County. He enlisted in December 2015 and was assigned to the patrol unit out of the Huntingdon barracks, state police said. He graduated from the academy in June, the same month he got married.
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf said Weaver “will always be remembered for his bravery, his sacrifice and his willingness to serve.” Flags across Pennsylvania have been ordered at half-staff and they will stay lowered until sunset Tuesday.
Investigators had been searching for the shooting suspect, 32-year-old Jason Robison. State police said Robison was killed by police around 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
According to a state police news release, Robison was found at an unoccupied mobile home in the area. He refused commands to surrender and made threats to harm additional members of law enforcement before he was shot and killed.
State Police Capt. David Cain said law enforcement officers were "faced with a deadly situation. Troopers were forced to discharge their weapons, resulting in the suspect being fatally wounded."
Robison had been arrested more than a dozen times in the county on charges that included making threats, assault, theft and driving on a revoked license. Robison last appeared in court on Dec. 16, when he was released on theft and driving charges after posting $10,000 bail.

Weaver is the 97th member of the Pennsylvania State Police to be killed in the line of duty since the department's inception in 1905.
