SUV hits vehicle, crashes into University of Pittsburgh's bookstore; 3 injured

PITTSBURGH — An SUV crashed into the University of Pittsburgh's bookstore Saturday night after a two-vehicle accident that injured three people, Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE reported.

The crash was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Fifth Avenue, emergency dispatchers told TribLIVE.

According to Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Sonya Toler, a vehicle was traveling inbound on Fifth Avenue when it struck the second vehicle and then the bookstore, TribLIVE reported. The 22-year-old driver, Nicholas Bozzo, of Shaler, initially fled the scene but later returned.

Three people were taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with minor injuries, according to TribLIVE.

Charges against Bozzo were pending, TribLIVE reported.

University of Pittsburgh spokesman Joe Miksch told TribLIVE that none of the people involved appeared to be affiliated with the school.
