Funds donated following Tree of Life attack dispersed to families, survivors, first responders

PITTSBURGH — Over $5 million donated from around the world following the Tree of Life synagogue attack is being dispersed to victims’ families, survivors, congregations, first responders and for memorials.

According to a press release, representatives from the three affected congregations - Tree of Life, Dor Hadash and New Light - requested an Independent Committee convened by the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh. The group recommended in a report how to distribute the funds and the three congregations were presented with the report.

Here is a breakdown of how the $5.45 million in donations will be distributed:

  • Families of those killed and to two wounded worshippers - $3,024,231
  • Individuals trapped in the building - $215,162
  • Individuals on the premises during the attack - $23,905
  • Congregation Dor Hadash - $240,197
  • New Light Congregation - $240,457
  • Tree of Life congregation rebuilding - $1,275,871
  • Funds to honor first responders - $200,000
  • Funds for memorialization - $233,598
