Teen In Monroeville Mall Fight Talks To WPXI

MONROEVILLE, Pa.,None — Police have charged five people with disorderly conduct after a fight broke out inside the Monroeville Mall.

Channel 11 has one of the only copies of the video of the fight, which has been taken down from YouTube. The video shows a group of teenage girls brawling near the mall's food court. Patrons and young children were just feet away as the mall security tried to break up the fight.

One of the women suspected of fighting, Lissa Walls, 38, wouldn't go on camera when Channel 11 News went to her home for an interview.

Walls, a mother of two, said it all started after she went to the mall to confront a teenage girl she claims had been harassing her daughter, who works in the food court. She said the next thing she knew, she and her two daughters were being jumped by a mob of teenagers.

That teenager is Jadah Fields, who told Channel 11 News her side of the story on Friday.

Fields, 18, said it all began when Walls threatened her.

"She said, 'Leave my daughter alone or else we got something for you,'" Fields said.

Fields said a friend complained to mall security, but security did nothing and, minutes later, a fight broke out.

Fields said she took the first punch to the face.

"When I was on the ground getting arrested, the mother snuck a kick in really hard," she said.

"I regret it," Fields said. "I wish I could take it back."

The five people involved in the fight received a $240 citation for disorderly conduct in a public place, authorities said.

Fields' mother said her daughter is a victim in this case.

"Their way of thinking was my daughter fought, so she's not a victim. That's simply not true. She had no choice," the mother said.

Fields' mother also said she doesn't think mall security did enough to prevent the fight, especially since they were given a warning.

Despite the conflicting stories, Monroeville police said Friday they don't plan to file additional charges.

Meanwhile, shoppers had plenty to say when they saw the video.

"I'm appalled to see kids. There were little children in the midst of getting stomped," said shopper John Skinner.

The Monroeville police chief said the brawl had been broken up and was well under control by the time his officers arrived.

Mall management said safety is their top priority.
