$2 million issued to Allegheny Co. Jail to reduce overcrowding

PITTSBURGH — The population at the Allegheny County Jail continues to increase even as crime rates drop.

The jail just received $2 million to reduce the jail population, which has increased by 70-percent over the last 20 years.

The money is part of the McArthur Foundation's Safety and Justice Challenge.
