2 people hospitalized after shots fired near Pittsburgh grocery store

PITTSBURGH — Two people were hurt when shots were fired early Friday morning near a grocery store in Pittsburgh’s East Allegheny neighborhood, police said.

Officers who were patrolling the area heard multiple gunshots just before 1 a.m. in the area of Cedar Avenue and Avery Street.

Police were seen investigating in the parking lot outside the Giant Eagle on Cedar Avenue. A car was towed away.

Both men were hospitalized in stable condition, officials said.

A man who was shot in the leg was found in the 300 block of Cedar Avenue, police said. Shortly thereafter, a second man was found with a gunshot wound to the head in the 200 block of East Ohio Street.
