PITTSBURGH — A 200-pound male black bear was trapped Wednesday morning in downtown Pittsburgh by the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
The three-year-old bear was caught in a 10-foot-long steel cylinder trap that was set up Friday next to a dumpster at the Energy Innovation Center on Bedford Avenue, a game commission warden said. It was baited with doughnuts and meat.

It turns out the bear had been living on the wooded hillside above Bigelow Boulevard, the warden told TribLIVE.
The warden told TribLIVE that the 2-year-old bear was first spotted on Dec. 6 along Penn Avenue. Then, within the past week, it began rummaging through dumpsters at the Energy Innovation Center and the nearby Boy Scouts building.
Until Wednesday morning, the bear twice eluded capture after getting the bait without triggering the trap, TribLIVE was told.
The bear was released safely into wildlife in Somerset.
