PITTSBURGH — Three teenagers were arrested early Tuesday morning after they jumped out of a vehicle that was reported stolen in an earlier armed carjacking, Pittsburgh police said.
Shortly before 1:30 a.m., the stolen vehicle was spotted by police on South Side Avenue at Sunset Avenue in the city’s Spring Garden neighborhood. Officers followed the vehicle for a short time before the teenage boys got out on Reekes Way, a dead-end street just off Spring Garden Avenue, authorities said.
One of the teenagers was arrested immediately, police said. The other two teens ran into the woods, but police caught up with them and arrested them.
The vehicle the teens were in had been reported stolen in an armed carjacking just after 5 p.m. Monday on Belleau Drive in the city’s Fineview neighborhood.
Police continue to investigate.
