PITCAIRN, Pa. — 20-year-old Mika Petrosky was defeated by 81-year-old Margaret “Betsy” Stevick in Tuesday’s mayoral primary in Pitcairn.
Our partners at the Trib report Stevick had 247 votes to Petrosky’s 96 after 100% of the votes had been counted. There were no Republican candidates running, giving Stevick a possibly easy path to returning as mayor.
She has been serving as mayor for 24 years.
If Petrosky had won she would have been on her way to becoming the youngest mayor in Pennsylvania. She said she may consider running as a write-in candidate in November.
