PITTSBURGH — The family of 5-year-old Ja’Lyon Johnson is working to make sure his death doesn’t become a cold case.
Johnson was killed nine years ago when he was shot in the chest while sitting in his family’s living room in Northview Heights, and his grandmother said police aren't doing enough to find the people who did it.
"What are you doing about it? Or are you trying to let it become a cold case? I won't," said Mone Parker
Members of Johnson’s family said they want to keep his story alive so the case isn’t put on the back burner.

Police have said they believe the bullets were intended for a 17-year-old sleeping in a nearby residence.

"It's hard, because he didn't get to enjoy life. Five years old, he was taken away from us," Parker said. "He's always with us in our hearts, minds and spirit. But someone needs to pay. Someone needs to be accountable for the life that they took."

Pittsburgh police said the investigation remains active and asks anyone with information to come forward.
