PITTSBURGH — Allegheny Health Network and Dick’s Sporting Goods partnered to host on Friday what they called the largest single-day COVID-19 vaccination clinic so far in the region.

More than 5,000 area residents in Phase 1A are getting their first dose of the vaccine at the Dick’s Sporting Goods corporate office in Coraopolis.

“I’d rather be safe. it’s well worth it to me, not to take the chance and not get the shot. In our age, we are ready,” Katherine O’Toole, of Greensburg, said.

People who are eligible for the vaccine booked their appointments, all of which were filled, in advance. No walk-ins are being accepted.

For O’Toole, it’s one step closer to normalcy and the chance to finally see her grandchildren.

To date, AHN has dispensed more than 125,000 vaccine doses in total.

Recipient’s at Friday’s clinic will return to the corporate office on March 26 to get their second dose of the vaccine.
