ALLEGHENY COUNTY., Pa. — The Allegheny County Health Department, in their weekly COVID-19 briefing, said cases reported Wednesday were down by nearly half from the day before.

The county reported 298 COVID-19 cases since Tuesday, including six deaths.

Health officials are stressing the importance of getting the vaccine to slow the spread of COVID-19, as well as wearing masks.

Following Sunday’s Steelers game, officials said many mask complaints were received in which people were not wearing masks, which fans must do when indoors.

Health department officials also encouraged parents to have children wear masks at school. Up to 100 children per day in Allegheny County are testing positive for the virus.
