Anonymous donor steps forward to cover costs for beloved cat at Pittsburgh shelter

PITTSBURGH — An anonymous donor came forward to cover the cost of prescription cat food for “Foxy Lady” for the rest of her life and officials with Animal Friends are encouraging people to donate.

Shelter officials said the cat’s owner was being evicted earlier this year and had to surrender the cat. After a few weeks, the woman was back on her feet and was able to re-adopt “Foxy Lady.”

Several months later, the cat was developing some serious health issues and the owner said she could not afford the care and “was once again forced to make the devastating decision to surrender her beloved cat.” “Foxy Lady” had dental surgery, a tumor removed and it was discovered the animal had active kidney disease. As a result, the cat had to go on a special diet.

After months of exams, tests and treatments, “Foxy Lady” was once again able to be reunited with her owner and the prescription cat food would be covered for the rest of the animal’s life.
