According to the criminal complaint the shooting was planned after an incident that happened at a party in East Hills the night before the cookout.
A witness who was at the party told police that someone who was attending the cookout sold fake drugs to someone at the party. In the criminal complaint that same witness described the day of the cookout and said they were in the car that was used to go to the cookout. They told police that they along with “Day-Day” and “Homi” hopped out and started shooting into a crowd of people, “and they did not specifically see the person they intended to shoot.”
Investigators learned Homi’s real name is Desaun Watson. A warrant was issued and he is currently in jail outside of Allegheny County on unrelated charges.
It’s been an extremely long journey for the family of Baby Marcus. The past eight years have been filled with heartache and a long fight in getting justice.
“We always feel like there is somebody missing that’s probably never going to go away,” Baby Marcus’ aunt Shedayah Tyler said. “We always go to the cemetery make sure he has toys teddy bears candles and everything.”
Tyler said she will never forget the day she lost her nephew. He was in her arms when bullets rang out, hitting her, Baby Marcus, and his other aunt.
Since then the family has fought for justice.
