Anthrocon, annual furry convention in Pittsburgh, cancels in-person festivities

PITTSBURGH — “Anthrocon,” the annual furry convention held in Pittsburgh, has canceled in-person festivities for the second straight year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s the world’s second largest furry convention -- more than 9,000 gathered at David L. Lawrence Convention Center the last time it was held in 2019.

The convention said it can’t hold the event “safely,” but a virtual convention is now in the works instead.

As of right now, Anthrocon is set for June 30 through July 3 next year in-person.
