BETHEL PARK, Pa. — A 30-year-old man from Texarkana, Arkansas was arrested over the weekend after police said he tried to force his way into a woman’s vehicle.

Investigators said Rodrick Hatten has quite the criminal history with charges filed in 20 different states.

“We have been having calls on him terrorizing and harassing patrons of stores along the Route 19 corridor and in the mall area,” said Bethel Park Chief of Police Timothy O’Connor.

“She was able to get the door locked. It was initially unlocked, she locked it quickly which prevented him from getting in there or we might have had a much more serious incident occur,” O’Connor said.

Police said the most recent incident happened outside the South Hills Village Mall.

Hatten was out on bail for another incident, but police said he came back to the department to retrieve his bag and became enraged.

“He was trying to break through the glass door,” O’Connor said.

Police are now reminding women to be more aware of their surroundings and lock their car doors as soon as they get inside.
