A driver destroyed Bloomfield’s iconic “Little Italy” sign early Sunday morning.

The driver, a 38-year-old man, was headed north on the Bloomfield Bridge at about 12:45 a.m. and did not navigate the turn at the intersection with Liberty Avenue, according to Public Safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler.
The driver stayed at the scene and was cleared by medics. No charges were made, Toler said.
