Carnegie man admits to throwing bricks, pipe at police during May 30 riot

PITTSBURGH — A Carnegie man pleaded guilty Wednesday, admitting to throwing concrete pieces and a pipe at Pittsburgh City Police during the May 30, 2020 riots downtown.

Andrew Augustyniak-Duncan, 25 ,pleaded guilty to a charge of obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder in federal court on Wednesday.

Police said Augustyniak-Duncanwas spotted on surveillance cameras throwing projectiles, including pieces of concrete and a pipe, at several Pittsburgh police officers. One officer was hit and suffered a concussion.

Police said he also was involved in looting at least one business on May 30.

He is scheduled for sentencing on Oct. 13, and is facing a possibility of up to five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.
