SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. — Posters for Slippery Rock University’s College Republicans were vandalized last week.
“I was saddened to read the words "fascist" and "scum" plastered on these flyers as both of these terms are so heavily weighed with hate and a dehumanizing energy,” Slippery Rock Mayor Jondavid Longo posted Wednesday on Facebook.
Similar acts of vandalism aimed toward other groups have taken place at the university since last year.
In February 2019, Black History Month flyers were vandalized with derogatory comments, according to Longo. Then, in November, members of SRU's LGBTQ community said they found their rainbow flags tattered.

On Thursday, Longo said in a follow-up Facebook post that SRU President William Behre attended a weekly meeting held by the College Republicans.
“Having heard his words in person, it’s obvious that he has a desire to promote harmony and respect both on campus and in our diverse community,” Longo said of Behre.
