BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — More community events are returning to Butler County this summer after being cancelled last year due to COVID-19.
Mingle on Main kicks off Thursday in downtown Saxonburg for the first time in more than a year.
“We are all excited about it because it’s our first mingle we call it,” said Maria Berzonski, whose daughter owns a business on Main Street. “We were so sad last year when they cancelled but we usually do it in May and it was just in the prime of the pandemic.”
The event started six years ago and thousands of people attend to support local businesses.
“We depend on it, it’s something that you know you can keep the kids working and keep your doors open so it’s just helpful to everybody,” she said.
Main street is closed off during the event as food vendors line the street.
The event, which grew from just six vendors to nearly 50, is run by volunteers and the Saxonburg Area Business Association and also features live music.
The town’s mayor said he looks forward to the event every year and is glad it’s finally back.
“This community is close. We like to get together and gather with each other, spending time just talking and mingling and enjoying food trucks and all the events that go on,” said Saxonburg Mayor Bill Gillespie.
The event will be held on the third Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., now through September.
