PITTSBURGH, Pa. — This holiday season will be very different for many of us due to the rising number of coronavirus cases.

Health officials have advised against welcoming people into your home.

Cities and towns have canceled their annual parades and celebrations.

Doug Satterfield, owner of Rollier Hardware in Mt. Lebanon, told Channel 11, “We’ve seen quite a few customers coming in buying trees, ornaments. I think the feeling is people want something fun and new, and decorating their homes is going to be a big item this year.”

But retailers say some shoppers are finding joy in early holiday decorating.

Many small businesses have struggled to stay open during the pandemic.

Satterfield and others say the holidays are the perfect time to shop small and shop local.
