CASTLE SHANNON, Pa. — A second COVID-19 vaccination clinic was opened Tuesday by the Allegheny County Health Department, and phone registration was available until all available appointments were filled.

The clinic is located in Castle Shannon at the Castle Shannon Fire Department’s memorial hall at 3600 Library Road.

Vaccines are available by appointment only, and people who get it must be age 65 or older to qualify.

Online registration started over the weekend. Appointments quickly filled up.

For people who have been having trouble registering online, phone registration was made available starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday by calling 2-1-1. Those appointments filled up shortly after 10:30 a.m.

The Health Department emphasized that appointments made over the phone are meant only for people who don’t have access to a computer or the Internet, or who have trouble navigating the online registration system.

The Health Department asked for patience with phone appointments, as the registration process can take up to 20 minutes per person.

If additional appointments open up, they will be announced via Allegheny Alerts and posted HERE.

Another vaccination clinic has already been available in Monroeville at the Double Tree Hotel. Anyone who already has an appointment at that location cannot switch to the Castle Shannon location.

The Moderna vaccine is being used at both locations.
