Power restored in Washington County after crash knocks it out

NORTH STRABANE TWP., Pa. — A crash in Washington County knocked out power to several hundred homes and businesses Thursday morning.

The crash happened on Washington Road in North Strabane Township shortly before 3 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

Washington County 911 dispatchers told Channel 11 the crash closed down Weavertown Road in both directions at the Sheetz location.

The vehicle crashed into a pole, shearing it, taking down wires. A fire hydrant was also sheared.

According to West Penn Power, there were more than 300 businesses and homes without power in North Strabane and Cecil townships, as well as Canonsburg, and power was restored to the majority of those affected by 7 a.m.
