Fire crews battled a chemical fire at a Washington County titanium factory Thursday.

Officials said the fire is now under control, but there is a lot of damage inside after the roof collapsed.

It appears to be a piece of machinery that caught fire.

Initially, residents were told to shelter in place, but officials said they are now OK to leave.

Emergency crews were called to Dynamet Incorporated on Museum Road in Chartiers Township around 7:35 p.m.

The fumes were so thick people living in Pittsburgh reported the smell.

Officials said there was no release of chemicals.

No injuries have been reported.
