DORMONT, Pa. — The locks on the Dormont Pool will stay on a little longer.

On Tuesday, the borough announced it is delaying the summer opening due to a shortage of lifeguards.

Despite an attempt to attract more applicants by offering increased wages, the start of the season has been pushed back one week to June 19.

In the meantime, the borough will continue recruitment efforts and schedule candidates for lifeguard training classes.

According to borough officials, additional changes are possible, including limiting capacity and closing certain sections of the pool while they work through the labor shortage.

High school and college students are encouraged to apply.
