PITTSBURGH — High school seniors from Pittsburgh CAPA got to experience graduation in a unique way Monday in downtown Pittsburgh.
Cars and students lined up outside CAPA for a drive-thru and pickup diploma ceremony.
Although students across the district celebrated graduation virtually Sunday, Monday’s event solidified their accomplishments in physical, real form with their peers.

The 138 graduating CAPA seniors walked up to the school and retrieved their diploma. One by one, they posed by a balloon arch on stage with their loved ones nearby.
Cheering and dancing classmates showed support from a safe social distance.
It’s been a unique and, at times, challenging experience, but students and school leaders say they’re grateful.
“It’s also a celebration, right? Class of 2020 has lost a lot here at CAPA and all around the country, so we really want to do something to celebrate people to make sure they’re having a great time.” CAPA’s Principal Melissa Pearlman said.
