UNIONTOWN, Pa. — Several people are left without their vehicles after a driver lost control and slammed into their cars in Fayette County.

Their cars were parked outside their homes along East Fayette Street in Uniontown.

“We heard a big ‘bang’ noise, and we heard tires screeching,” said Amore Ford.

Ford heard the impact of the crash from inside her house before she saw the extent of the damage.

“I actually got an alert on my phone from OnStar saying I instantly had a flat tire, that I needed to get my tire fixed and I’m like, ‘wow she hit my car that hard.’ Not only did she knock it off the street, she flattened my tire instantly,” said Ford.

Video shows the driver slammed into Ford’s SUV so hard it was pushed up onto the sidewalk.

Two other parked cars were also hit.

“She tried to run away, so our neighbors had to stop her and we held her until police got here. But the whole incident was crazy. I have kids, my neighbors have kids — what if that would’ve happened during the daytime?” said Ford.

The Fords have a rental car, but are now left wondering what’s going to happen to their car — and who pays for what.

“Does she have insurance? Is my car covered? At this point, it’s just a waiting game to see what I have to pay for out-of-pocket, or if I even get reimbursed for my deductible,” said Ford.

According to Ford, this wasn’t an isolated incident for East Fayette Street.

“People fly up and down this street all day long. They’re on their cellphones not paying attention, and there’s been several accidents here at this intersection. Six that I can count,” she said.

Uniontown police said the driver’s blood-alcohol level was allegedly four times the legal limit.

She is expected to be charged with DUI and other traffic citations.
