NORTH VERSAILLES, Pa. — A local emergency medical services chief was charged Monday with sexually assaulting a young girl over a period of several years.

Ryan Marton is the EMS chief with the North Versailles Fire Department.

During the preliminary hearing Monday, the alleged victim testified that the incidents happened over a dozen times from 2008 to 2011 in Marton’s White Oak home. Marton’s lawyer denied this.

"Personally it's been devastating to him. You can imagine with charges of this nature and of this vintage,” Steve Toprani said.

Some of those incidents allegedly involved three friends of Marton’s. The victim testified those men sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.

The men have not been identified or charged.

Following one alleged incident involving Marton, the victim told police, “Marton exposed a handgun to her and said he was going to put the gun to her mother's head if she told anybody about these incidents."

Based on that statement, the assistant district attorney added additional charges of witness intimidation and making terroristic threats.

Two assault charges were dropped, but all others were held for court.

"He's somebody who’s been involved in this community for decades in the public safety field. We're a little disappointed with the outcome today but we'll continue to fight forward,” Toprani said.

Marton has been placed on administrative leave.
