Six adults and some children are looking for another place to live. Two of the houses are unlivable.
No one was hurt.
The fire chief said crews had some problems fighting the fire when they first got there.
“They did have live power lines which essentially split the team in half, crews were able to work around that until Duquesne Light arrived on scene and secured the power,” said Jeffrey Tomovcsik, McKeesport fire chief. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
Neighbors say it was a surreal experience.
“We looked out the window and the middle house was on fire. And it was spreading to the second house. The middle house. It spreading to the second house. And by the time we came outside everybody was already outside. The roof was collapsing, smoke. Fire everywhere! It was crazy,” said Kayla Meriweather.
The American Red Cross is helping the families displaced.
Crews also rescued four dogs.
