SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A father accused of fracturing his baby daughter’s skull and breaking her ribs in 19 places was in court on Thursday.

Channel 11 was there as Jamie Easley left a judge’s office in Shaler. Charges are moving forward as the father stands accused of severely injuring his 1-month-old daughter.

Police said the infant suffered bruising all over her body, two skull fractures and 19 fractured ribs. The suspect’s attorney said he did not hurt the child.

“I saw this made international news about this bad father, and so on and so forth. He hasn’t been proven guilty of anything,” said defense attorney Blaine Jones.

Police said Easley admitted to shaking and squeezing his baby, but insisted his 3-year-old daughter pulled the infant off the bed.

Police say the injuries are consistent with severe child abuse and doctors at Children’s Hospital called it “one of the most violent cases of child abuse they have seen."

Easley’s attorneys maintain they’ve got the wrong person.

“He’s been genuine. He’s been hurt. He’s doing everything in his power to go his kids back, and we don’t believe this is the correct parent that did something to this child,” Jones said.

Police also charged the mother of the baby, Katie Easley, with child endangerment. She allegedly had firsthand knowledge of the infant’s injuries and didn’t get help.

Jamie Easily’s attorney said the allegations have hit him hard.

“He’s never been in trouble before. He’s a college graduate. This has completely shattered his world. He lost his job. This has changed his life,” Jones said

Jamie Easley is now facing trial. His next court date is Feb. 27.

Katie Easley is also facing trial. She will be back in court Feb. 11.
