UNIONTOWN, Pa. — A decades long agreement between Goodwill and Fayette County will expire when a recycling center closes its doors May 29. County leaders said Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania is getting out of the recycling industry at the corporate level.
Fayette County Recycling Coordinator Sheila Shea said, while the center will no longer process any recyclables, the county’s recycling program will continue as usual, with the “potential for much bigger and better things.”

The closure of the facility only affects 13 current drop boxes located across the county. It does not affect individual municipalities’ recycling programs.
The recycling center opened more than 30 years ago at 105 Romeo Lane in Uniontown.
The county plans to work with CAP Glass in South Connellsville to handle more recycling.
