EXPORT, Pa. — Traffic on Route 22 in Westmoreland County was backed up as firefighters battled an abandoned house fire.
A person driving on the road in Export saw thick smoke coming from the woods around 7:30 p.m. Friday and called 911.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire in the basement of the house and in parts of the first floor. The house is down a long driveway, which made the firefight more challenging.
The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
Traffic was down to one lane to leave room for emergency equipment.
