A former member of the Harrison City Volunteer Fire Department is accused of stealing $3,500 worth of payments for the use of the fire hall.
Penn Township police say Jeffrey Tickerhoof, 47, of Penn Township was acting as a booking agent for the department when he handled rentals of its banquet hall, called the Harrison Room.
A complaint from a person who’d booked the hall for a January event tipped the department off to discrepancies in the books, and the department asked police to look further into the matter, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

A detective spoke to four other parties who had booked the hall at various times over the last two years. Each time, Tickerhoof had them write their checks out to “cash” or to leave the “pay to the order of” line blank because he had a stamp, according to the affidavit.
In total, police said Tickerhoof took $3,500 worth of checks intended to pay for hall rentals and deposited all of them into his personal bank account.
Tickerhoof is charged with five counts each of theft by deception, receiving stolen property and misapplication of entrusted property.
