HEMPFIELD, Pa. — A Westmoreland County nursing home is bringing in an outside water supply and taking extra precautions after its water source revealed “probable Legionella."
The Pennsylvania Department of Health told Channel 11, “The department is investigating a possible case of Legionnaire’s disease at the facility. Westmoreland Manor is working with the department in regard to this investigation, and following our recommendations regarding water usage.”

The county said if test results come back positive for Legionella, they will have to flush the system with chemicals to resolve the issue.
County officials and Westmoreland Manor are waiting on further test results, but preliminary tests at the 400-bed facility came back with “probable Legionella.”
