High levels of carbon monoxide causes evacuation of Latrobe assisted-living facility

An assisted-living facility in Latrobe was evacuated Sunday after emergency crews detected high levels of carbon monoxide and a smell of gas.

Officials said they evacuated everyone out of the Brookdale Assisted Living Facility on Brouwers Road. Calls reporting a gas smell came in around 1:15 p.m. Sunday.

The facility is located within one mile of Saint Vincent College, where the Pittsburgh Steelers hold their annual training camp.

No injuries were reported and residents were permitted to re-enter the building around 2:30 p.m.

However, the Steelers are not practicing at Latrobe on Sunday. They will be practicing at Heinz Field from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
