High water issues, damage remain after severe storms blow through

PITTSBURGH — Severe thunderstorms pushed through the area throughout the day Friday with heavy rains, high winds and lightning. Flash flooding trapped a man in his car for a time, a Tornado Warning was issued briefly and trees were snapped across the region.

Robinson

Allegheny County officials reported high water in Robinson and several streets were closed for a time.

New Kensington

Some roads were impassable in the New Kensington area Friday, including Fifth Avenue. Trees and wires were hanging down in several spots.

“There was sparks shooting over onto my porch, so we’re all trying to stay in but peek out because all of our vehicles were right here because we hear cracking,” Stephanie Sturgill said.

Upper St. Clair

Fire officials in Upper St. Clair urged people to remember to not drive through high water. What looked like a puddle on the road turned out to be a hole 5-feet deep!

Butler County

People in Butler County spent their Friday cleaning up tree limbs and branches after storms blasted through the area Thursday night.
