MCCANDLESS, Pa. — Police in McCandless are looking for a local man who they say conned more than one trusting homeowner.

The latest victim is an 82-year-old woman who uses a wheelchair.

According to police, Thomas Miller was working for a legitimate house-painting company in Millvale in October when he approached the woman and told her she needed her roof and gutters repaired.

The woman sent Miller five checks totaling $450, but after they were cashed she was unable to get in touch with him.

To make matters worse for the homeowner, when she got a second opinion she was told that her roof and gutters were actually fine.

McCandless police said this is not the first time Miller has duped homeowners, and there’s an active warrant for his arrest on similar crimes.
